Hi:
I have rebuilt my web site www.wwii-photos-maps.com. The site should be much faster to open and easier to navigate. Some of the material has been moved to my FTP server which I think will be a better place for access. If there are any problems please let me know at jcarlcalvin@gmail.com.
Regards,
John

Hi:
I think this is a good time to provide a current status of my FTP service. My Internet is a 100MB commercial Charter connection which uses their managed modem. I have purchased a new Asus wireless/router which supports dual WAN connections and both 2.6ghz and 5ghz wireless connections. The first server (jccalvin.ddns.net) is a new Dell computer with a Quad processor and 12 GB of RAM. The second server (jccalvin-2.ddns.net) is a Toshiba laptop with dual core CPU and 3GB of RAM.
Server jccalvin.ddns.net will allow 25 connections with a max of 2 conncurent connetions per IP address. Server jccalvin-2.ddns.net will allow 15 connections with a max of 2 conncurrent connections per IP address. Each server will have one user ID which is FTP-User-1. The password will be the same for both servers (SKNVr8du). The number of allowed users will be adjusted depending on how well the servers are handling the load. User ID FTP-User-2 and server name jccalvinfw.ddns.net will be eliminated later today.
Server One:
HostID: jccalvin.ddns.net
UserID: FTP-User-1
Password: SKNVr8du
Port Number: 21
Simple FTP
Server Two:
HostID: jccalvin-2.ddns.net
UserID: FTP-User-1
Password: SKNVr8du
Port Number: 21
Simple FTP

John

Hi:
Today the primary FTP server (jccalvin.ddns.net) will go down and remain down until a new firewall is up and running, hopefully not more than a few hours. The backup FTP server (jccalvin-2.ddns.net) will go down for a short period of time until the cable modem is back up, hopefully not more than 5 or 10 minutes.
Any of you currently logged in to jccalvin.ddns.net should log out and login to jccalvin-2.ddns.net. I am hoping that the new firewall will be more stable than the last one. That is not a criticism of Ipfire but just my recent experiences.
Regards,
John

Hi:
Three weeks ago I installed an upgrade to my IPFire firewall. This runs on a dedicated Linux computer. It turns out that my IPS system "Guardian" is not compatible with the upgrade. I have spent two weeks trying to correct the problem, without success. Two days ago I build another FTP server and have been using that in addition to the old one.
Tomorrow I am installing a new commercial firewall/router Asus AC-3100 at a cost of $300.00. When I am finished I will have a new FTP server and a backup server. I am doing the best I can to correct the problem and to make it much less likely that it will occur again.

John
